Whats the best way to see the Northern lights?

I know you can get a 3 hour flight but its £300 for two people - is there a better (& possibly cheaper?) way? and whats the best month to go? Nov or Dec?

The flights are best, but a couple of years ago I went camping up to the Orkneys - very cheap, if not exactly luxurious! (November)

You don't really need to go far away north to see them. I live in Ontario, and a lot of times during the year if we travel a few hours north we can see them (not as huge and magnificcent as when you go to the north pole or something lol but still amazing). Just do some research on where you live and see how north you can travel in your own place where you live.
