  1. Networking always helps in the place or the country where you stay and local ads in the papers.

  2. If it hasn't sold, the asking price is too high. Boats AND cars/trucks with big engines are hard to sell these days, which means if you absolutely MUST sell it, you may have to take a loss. It's unfortunate, but that's how things sometimes go.

  3. When i sold mine, ended up being word of mouth.

    best price for her too.

  4. You didn't say what kind of boat or what kind of shape it's in, but assuming it's a good boat at a good price in good shape, the best thing you can do is be patient.

I just sold a 40' sailboat that I put on the market last September, and it sold this August. It's pretty typical for a boat to spend 18 months on the market. I listed on cl, but not on ebay, but what sold my boat was that a) I built my own website and promoted it to the search engines with good, descriptive keywords. b) I went to all the 'free' sites like goodoldboat.com and boatus.com and put up ads that pointed back to my website. c) there's a reasonably priced listing service (again, you didn't say what kind of boat) called 'sailboatlistings.com' that generated a lot of traffic, again, pointed to my more comprehensive personal site. At the end of the day, though, it's about someone coming along and saying 'that's the one.' They're out there - keep the faith.

  5. small boats sell good in local newspapers and local fishing rags, like louisiana fisherman, or something similar - every marina has these newspapers floating around.

larger boats it is my best experience to use a good yacht broker!  these guys earn their money!!!

    good luck!

  6. What type of boat do you have ? spring is the best time to sell,,,

  7. If it's a small boat you can always park it in front of your house with a sign, or find a "park and sell" lot where you pay a small fee to park it in a heavily trafficed area with a sign.

Then there's always just advertising in popular areas with lots of marine activities.  Many larger newspapers have online services for listing your classified ad.  You can do it all right online without driving out of town to the newspaper office.

  8. You can use this service http://www.yachtcouncil.com/sell-your-ya...
