Whats the best way to spot saltwater trout?

Ok so your in your boat and your cruisin across the water looking for a good place to fish.

What good signs would indicate fish in the area? Birds, muddy areas, etc...

A fish finder would be the most reliable way to know where the fish are, but if you see birds diving in the water, that means theres a small fish "bait ball"  in the area which usually also attracts a lot of game fish.  Seatrouts  like shallow water with a sandy bottom and lots of sea grass.  They also like to collect in depressions or holes.
