  1. Also, don't forget to take batteries for flashlight (in case storm blackout the electricity), also battery-operated radio and keep onto news channel for live update on storm condition/report.

Take your house keys but do not lock the door or window.

Do you remember, the true story called "Triangle Fire."

In that day, Triangle Company was manufacturaring and fire started. People were trying to escape, however they were trapped because fire escape was locked.

This was prevented, so they wouldn't steal.

Before the flood/hurricane warning, be sure to make sure your cars has enough gas for evacuation center.

During the fire, leave everything and get OUT. Never go back into burning fire.

If you're trapped inside room, feel the door to see if it cold or hot. If hot, do not open it. Place wet towels to present fire coming in.

If you can't get out, open the window (don't break it), and signal with towel to get attention of firefighters.

If you see Tornado when you are near ditch or storm cellear, go into it.

  2. I believe there should be a reference guide in your local yellow pages at the front.  Maybe it's simply because I live in a major city.  However, each situation requires a different approach.

For  all types of emergencies, you should definately have a radio or portable tv handy.  There, you can listen to any public announcments there may be from local authorities.  Also, don't forget that batteries and food/water may go bad in years, so they will need replacing.  For fires, remember baking soda can stop any type of [small] fire.  Any oil/electrical fires will be made worse by water.  Doors provide a great barrier for fires.  There is a big range of natural disasters, from hurricanes to earthquakes to flash flooding, etc.  I'd recommend knowing a suitable place in your home to avoid these situations

Try searching for a .gov site with more information of preparing.

  3. live

  4. Be aware of your mortality and say your  prayers.

  5. The suppilies, etc would depend on the situation. If it's snow up north (assuming US) or hurricanes in FL, You'd want a supply of canned & dry foods (pasta, rice) & a lot of bottles (gallons) of water, so that if your power is out for a while, you're OK. Also, a manual can opener, charcoal and/or sterno for cooking. Pet food if you have pets.

In case of fire if you have 2-3 floors in your house, a rope ladder would be good.

If you have kids, have fire drills.

A first aid kit should be a staple in any house or car.

    Shootings?---barracade yourself in your house & lay low.-call 911.

    Home invasion-----SHOOT first!

I  have 3 dogs; a German Shepherd mix & 2 pit bulls. They are house pets. They are my alarm system. My guns are my defense.

  6. Watch all six seasons of "Maguiver" and I know you will survive!!!!

  7. Check out the "worst case scenario" books..they have all that covered and more!

  8. Take a military survival course and let them grind you up. I've gotten out of a lot of situations with nothing more than basic lessons learned and confidence in my self.

  9. one good way to stay safe incase of an emergency is to go to the most inner area of you house or where ever you are and stay low. unless it is an earth quake then you want to get under something really sturdy( table, desk, or a door way). as for fires stay as low as possible and find the nearest exit, don't open windows unless it's the one your going out of. if you have to open a door put you hand one inch away from the door and make sure you door feel any heat off of it. if there is heat then do not open the door. it could create what is called a back draft.

You will need water for a minimum of 3 days, food for 3 days, medicine, first aid kit, routes to a shelter, gas in your car, cash, a meeting place for family members in case of emergency, contact with at least one friend or family member away from affected area to let them know you are OK and give that phone number to others who may inquire as to your condition.  Bring clothing and bedding and some form of entertainment for the kids, batteries, candles, a radio that you can listen to for advisories.  If you are in an area that will not have electricity, fill up containers of water before the disaster hits, freeze them and keep them in your refrigerator or freezer to keep food edible for a longer period of time.  Start buying an additional can of food  each time you go to the store for an "emergency kit".  Last minute shoppers will wipe out the shelves of food, it is expensive, so slowly build your kit so there is no last minute scramble for provisions.  Fill your tub with water, this water will enable you to flush toilets and wash your face.

  11. Stay inside, shut off power to your water heater and the water supply to the tank, [if power and water are out of service]   , you have 30 to 50 gallons of water, have some dry goods, barley, rice, beans.

Have a small gas stove with a couple spare tanks, they are safe, don't cost much, and you will eat well, and be able to hold out a week or two.
