Whats the best way to stop ant life/ multiplication at foundation of my house?

these guys have been driving me crazy for about 5 years now. Every spring and summer they are a huge headache!!!!!!! mostly small brown ants. A few larger black ones too. they seem to like bark chips landscaping cloth. Is there a more effective way to landscape to discourage these guys? any ideas?

Use a mix of cinnamon and sugar. The ants will pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.

Sprinkle boric acid along the foundation or spray with diazinon.
