The best zune converter I use is Daniusoft DVD to Zune Converter. It can convert DVD by custom file size, rip DVD's any segment, select target subtitle and audio track and trim or crop DVD with only a few clicks.

Zune only supports the follow video formats:

Windows Media Video (.wmv)

MPEG4 video (m4v, .mp4, or .mov)

H.264 video (.m4v, .mp4, or .mov)

If you have videos that aren't any of those, I suggest you try Zune Video Converter Suite, this software can convert DVD movie and convert all popular video formats to Zune. Handbrake  is a nice freeware that can help you convert dvd to mp4 video, then you can put the mp4 video to your zune player.

I'd prefer using this dvd converter to do that, my friends recommend it to me, it's not free, but it's easy to use and works pretty well for me, I think it deserves the money. And here is a guide about how to use it
