i wanted to know the difference between a 5 speed manual vs. a 6 speed auto? which one is faster in taking off, which one has better gears/ratio, which one accelerates faster, is there a difference at all in driving besides changing gears with hand and gears automatically being changed. Please give me some good info....

i am trying to pick my next car but i just cannot decide what transmission is best.

i know how to drive both perfectly and i wouldn’t get tired in traffic with a manual; so help me please. it could be an Evo X but i still don't know.

i need some good detailed info and specs on the two transmissions...

  1. If i was you i'd go with the 5 speed manual. It and the 6 speed auto will have the same top speeds if they are the same car. Also, when you're driving a manual you're REALLY driving 'cause you get to pick which gear you're in when taking corners as opposed to having it automatically selected for you (auto).

Point and shoot driving (automatic transmission) is way boring, if you wanna TRULY drive, get a manual.

  2. The big one is control.  Real off road vehicle are 5 speed.  Real sports cars should only be standard to have an automatic is a crime.  an automatic Sports car says I have a car I don't know how to drive but hey I look cool in it.

If you know how to drive the 5 speed will accelerate faster then an automatic.

IF you know how to drive the 5 speed will help your brakes last longer because you can down shift.  You will get better MPG with a 5 speed if you know how to drive it.  Keep the car at the lowest RPMs and put it in Neutral when you can will save you gas.

The one bad thing about a standard is stop and go traffic.  OH MAN DOES THAT SUCK.

IF you are thinking an Evo X.  You have to go with the standard. Thats a performance car and would be ALOT MORE FUN TO DRIVE IF 5 SPEED. TRUST ME 5 speeds are way more fun to drive.  You will see go test drive a 5 speed.

  3. A manuel is faster, Easier on the car, Hardly ever wear out "except the clutch" And gives you better gas mileage. It is about 100 pounds lighter also!!

  4. Go with the stick. It's awesome, more control and handles better (IMO)

  5. Ok, A manual transmission gives you a lot more control over when you shift. If your looking for speed off the line, you cant beat a manual transmission. They also give much better mpg in city driving.

The new automatic transmissions that have traction control and yaw monitors are very good now. But those only come on higher end cars. Manual transmission shift for you at optimal points.

It all depends on your driving style. From what you said, your looking to go fast. If thats the case, go with the stick. Trust me, there is a reason all race cars, and your higher end sports cars like porche ect are all sticks :P

  6. it depends wat u want if you can put the auto into sport then go for the automatic but then again manuall gives you alot more control over the car and easier for going around bends at speeed as sometimes auto dosnt shift down a gear when you want it to.So you can speed out of the bend

  7. google it lol
