Monsoon rain forests are found at elevations below 3,280 feet.  The soil of the monsoon rain forest drains well.  Growth of plants is shorter than in the equatorial rain forest.  This is likely the result of a dry season where the plant growth becomes very limited.  As some plants loose their leaves in the rain forest the sunlight is able to penetrate the canopy and hit the ground.  This leads to a rich supply of plant growth on the floor of the forest.  The monsoon rain forests are most plentiful in areas of Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar (previously Burma), Thailand, areas of India and West Africa
