Whats the black stuff at the bottom of our GE dishwasher, and how do we get rid of it ??

Our dishwasher is 51/2 yrs old, the dishes come out clean, but there is this hard black stuff on the bottom that has adhered and it wont come off !!

Is there anything that will clean it ?? What can be done ??

I think it might be mold.  Call GE Answer Center at 800-626-2005 for help from Monday 6am EST to midnight Saturdays at midnight est.  Explain the problem & they'll tell you what to use.  Try the link below for their website.
