  1. It depends on the airline. I fly NWA a lot so i have a world perks elite account (100908261974). I get upgraded a lot. If you are flying NWA enter an elite account and you will probably get upgraded. If you don't have one then chances are they probably wont' do it just to do it they will upgrade a past flyer or offer upgrades for 50-200 dollars.

  2. that depends if the airline has room for the upgrade. I think airlines have started doing that less and less. People caught on and would just say :"oh this is our honeymoon" and be upgraded even if it wasnt so a lot of airlines cut back on giving those away.  At your hotel, if there is an upgrade to be given you will likely get it.

Cramped spaces and no leg room is just a part of flying.  I would count on being in that situation.

    by the way congratulations

  3. depends on the flight and how full it is. There may be no first class seats left and you may be stuck where you are.  but your seat may not be as bad... check out the seatguru.com to see how good your seats are and ammenities.

  4. Miracles do happen and it never hurts to ask. However, don't count on it. Gate agents probably hear this many times each day, including from passengers who are not on a honeymoon and are trying to scam a free upgrade anyway.

Airlines use upgrades to take care of their best customers first. That means that any available seats go to high mileage frequent fliers first. Passengers who are paying full fare may also get consideration. That's just smart business. They're not going to waste free upgrades on an occasional leisure traveler who is flying on a discount ticket. They're losing money on you anyway.

If there are any available seats after they accommodate their high-profit customers, you might have a chance. However, that would be very unlikely.

  5. Your chances are virtually nil. Sorry, but you've picked (a) the busiest time of year; (b) a busy route; (c) a favourite honeymoon destination. There are bound to be several other honeymooners on the plane with you.

My sister tried it last year with her and her husband wearing T-shirts to the effect of "just married". Had I been the check-in agent I would equally have laughed at their request to be upgraded. They flew to Las Vegas as well, but from London.

As for hotels... a very small chance. But again, don't forget that lots of people get married in Vegas.

The only thing I did manage to get on my honeymoon was in Thailand where the hotel provided a standard bedroom - but had decked out the entire bed with lotus petals in an arrangement that must have taken an hour to do.

  6. The odds of getting a FREE upgrade are slim to none.  Even the odds of paying for an upgrade can be slim depending on how full the flight is.  You wont get anything for free on a flight especially now-a-days.  You can always ask but, I wouldnt get too upset when the answer is no.

I travel a lot and I get a free upgrade because I have so many miles at the moment however before that, it only ever happened when they lost my luggage or something along those lines.  Never because it was my birthday or my anniversary or anything like that...  it would be nice but that isnt going to happen (especially now that they charge for soda and to check your bags!)

  7. Sorry to say---but the airlines could less if you are on your honeymoon.  What you see in Friends, or in the movies is not the way the airlines really are. They do almost nothing for free, or out of the goodness of their hearts. The only people getting comp upgrades are elite frequent flyers these days.

But, it never does it hurt to ask. If you get a really cool gate agent maybe they can work something out for you. But in my experience, things like that just dont happen. First class tickets are SO expensive these days that they just are not giving them away anymore.
