only if you plan on working in a pub will you get under the table money, or hard labour, i wouldnt risk it though cause if caught you may get banned.  Though the girl im with is trying the same and she has great credentials and would still wait 42 months for a visa.  My advice save money come first see if you can get a job here then take care of the paper work. Toronto is not the dream its made up to be because everyone else in the world has the same idea a you, there is way too much ppl going for the same jobs.  Or come on vacation find a girl wholl love your accent, and they will, and take things from there.

Since Canada is part of the Commenwealth, English citizens may be afforded the same 6 month automatic visa as Canadians are when they are in England.

Very good. If you want to work illegally. Menial labour jobs are always available, and some pay well. Don't expect to get any high-level jobs without your papers, though.
