Not sure about price, but there were definitely dual format players that could handle HD-DVD and Blu-Ray discs.

Given that HD is discontinued you should be able to find them being sold off at a bargain, and then buy up a load of cheap HD-DVD films as they too are discontinued. Then you can carry on watching Blu-Ray discs on the same player.
