well, im 16 years old and i got a ticket for having a defective vehical and was charged 2 points. im buying a new car, a mitsubishi eclipse and was wondering....what would be the cheapest insurance i could get....

im a good driver, i have taken classes and everything, good grades and the works...all ill need is liability insurance because this car isnt worth anything else

i need to know, because im gonna be stuck paying for insurance and gas and i will be getting no help, what so ever from my parent

For car insurance the best way to get a fantastic rate is do a policy comparison on auto policies. Basically, get quoted!

Insurance for young males is rated at a much higher premium as it is ~ the ticket you have received will only add to that high rating.  On top of that you are looking to insure a car that is also rated at a higher premium.  The combination of your age, driving record and vehicle is going to be very expensive, especially if you are going to need comprehensive and collision coverage (which doesn't look like you do).   The bad news is that because you are only 16 you will not be able to obtain your own insurance policy.  An insurance policy involves a contract which is legally binding, because you are not 18 you can not enter into any legally binding contracts.  Ultimately until you are 18 your parents are still responsible meaning you will have to be added on to their policy.  A lot of insurance companies offer discounts for young drivers such as good student and driver training.  These discounts may not be enough to compensate for the ticket you have received.  Good luck!

Call around, get quotes.  You need to do some leg work on this because each company will look at your record and intended vehicle differently.

That said, an Eclipse is one of the more expensive cars to insure, and a police magnet.  Not a wise choice for the budget constrained.

Usually fix it tickets are not points.  What was the ticket for?  Check with your DMV and your insurance agents to see if that ticket will count.
