Whats the cheapest or most effecient way to get from Barcelona to Alhambra?

arriving in Barcelona on the 3rd Sept, want to spend a few days there Cultural Study Photos,etc, and the beach, ( with my daughter) then go Directly to somewhere near the Alhambra Palace for about 4 days. We are both students (Mature Students) so we need to travel on a budget.Best way to get to Alhambra from Barcelona please and thank you

We took a direct train from Granada to Barcelona.  (The train station is Granada - the city, not Alhambra)  so I'm pretty sure that there's a direct train going the other direction.  Try checking with Renfe.com

The most efficient will be to fly with a budget airline from Barcelona to Granada. The link below is a good airline and will probably be cheaper than the train

buy a student rail ticket for you and  child rate ticket for your daughters. there is a direct rail service from barcelona to grenada.

There are three different ways to go from one place to another in Spain using public transportation: PLANE, BUS, TRAIN.

PLANE:

Going from Barcelona to Granada City by airplane would, by far, be the fastest & cheapest way to go. Some good airfares can be had but finding them is hit-or-miss and by chance you can get a good deal. If you check into http://www.Vueling.com right now you'll find a one-way flight for 40 Euros and lasting about 1.5 hours. GREAT! Add about 4-5 hours of going to and from airports, waiting in security lines, and boarding the planes.

BUS:

From Barcelona Nord Bus Station (web: http://www.barcelonanord.com/ ) you take the ALSA (web: http://www.Alsa.es - English language version ) bus line and it takes about 12.5 to 13 hours (yikes!!) and costs about 68-79 Euros one-way.

TRAIN:

Going from Barcelona Sants station to Granada City by train (web: http://www.RENFE.es - English version available) takes about 11.5 and costs about 56 Euros.
