  1. Hitchhiking or thumbing is still practiced in France.

It will be cheaper but you have to use some conversation skills

  2. Depending on which departure you select the cost of the train to Lyon is as little as 21.90 euros.

  3. The train is Cheap if you buy a card that is issued from the SNCF...just make sure to tell them you are a student, sometimes the people at the ticket counters are a******s....

  4. Wrong. 50€ is the TGV price. You can take regional trains called "corail" and Rillifane must be right about them.

  5. ya there are always cheep buses between big French citys i go Nice-Paris for 12 euro and NIce-Geneva for 18 it takes like 18 hours but its cheep. unfortunately it's really hard to fiend the buses online, I go to the station and by my tickets a couple weeks or days in advance. and if your under 26 you can get a student discount for train traveling in France. good luck

  6. 50€ is cheap to ride 500kms ....

anyway, the only authorized transport in France is Train (sncf). buses are forbidden for travel town by town.

Are you ok to do it by car with unknown people ? it could be cheapest.

  7. i also found 21.90 but you must book early to get the cheapest price, at the very least one month ahead. most tgvs to lyon are around 24 or 25 euros unless you are booking last minute. the early bird catches the worm...

EDIT: oh and you must also avoid weekends
