Ideally we would fly UK > NYC then NYC > Miami then hire a car and travel to Orlando for a flight home. Seems easy but finding web links isn't easy. Anyone any ideas?

  1. When I want to work this out, I usually get on a site like Travelocity and set up a "multi-destination" flight.

Please be aware that you will pay more for the one-way car rental than if you were to return it to Miami.  It's about a 3 hour drive from Miami to Orlando.  With the price of gas right now, that's maybe $40 one way.  You figure out what combination of flights and car rental gets you the best price.

    Enjoy your trip!

  2. Flying into NYC, you'd have to fly to JFK since that's the only international airport.  Can't really cheap out on that.  Just get a flight to NYC first, the cheapest you can find in the UK.

After you're in NYC.  I'd look at various commercial airline websites on my own.  I always find better prices on my own as opposed to using sites like expedia/travelocity/orbitz.  You can use coupon codes to save more.  E.g. Travelocity gave me a quote of $400 to Miami (I'm going there next week)  And the connection flights were horrible.  6 hour layovers.

I just went on JetBlue / Continental , found a perfect nonstop flight for $270 after using coupons and gift cards I bought, shaved off about $50 off the ticket price.

Oh, and when you're going to Miami, fly out of EWR (Newark Liberty), it's a lot cheaper. It's an hour drive to EWR from Manhattan, not too much farther than JFK.

BUT... really.. the best way of getting cheap tickets is knowing the right time to buy the tickets (which is usually the earlier, the better)

  3. Fly:

    UK>New York (either EWR/Newark or JFK/Kennedy) then

    NYC/New York>MCO/Orlando, then

    Orlando>MIA/Miami, then

    MIA>UK

In October, for example that will cost you about USD949.00 or 503.00BrPounds!
