  1. It has to be one of the Affimed and Aladar races. The Belmont was the closet I think.

  2. affirmed/allydar met 3x and dueled down the stetch to to the wire...noses apart

  3. There is a "Dead heat" when they are tied, and this happens  occasionally.   The most famous recent dead heat is the 2003 Breeders cup turf, which was a three way photo finish with the top two dead heating...

  4. I don't know how anybody could determine the "closest race ever" down the stretch.  There's alot of close races.

The Affirmed/Alydar Belmont stretch duel was very close throughout the whole stretch.  It was neck and neck almost the whole way - Alydar got his head in front at least once but Affirmed won by a head.

Of course, there have been closer races at the wire, but as far as the closest all the way down the stretch, Affirmed/Alydar is the one that comes to mind.

i promise you will love this race!

  6. It wasn't the closest ever because it wasn't a dead heat but it was the greatest in my opinion.... Sunday Silence and Easy goer in the 1989 Preakness. Best race I ever saw!!!

  7. Two of the best races I have seen in recent times were Northerly and Freemason in the BMW Stakes where they we're neck and neck around the home turn and all the way down the straight both horses reached the lead multiple times but Freemason the lesser known of the two won it on the line. Also Elvstroem and Kempinsky in the AAMI Vase one year had an epic battle over the final 600m only for Kempinsky to put his nose down at the vital time.

But of course most of you wouldn't have a clue what I am talking about as all of this happened on Australian race tracks.

If anyones interested in finding out more about Aussie horses search for names like Northerly, Makybe Diva, Sunline, Kingston Town, Lonhro, Manikato. And one you may see come overseas soon Weekend Hussler already rated the best 3YO in the world!

  8. Victory Gallop by a nose over Real Quite in the 1998 Belmont, preventing Real Quite from winning the triple crown. That is just one that stands out to me,but I have seen a lot of dead heats over the years.

  9. Their are so many almost to many to mention

it happens everyday some are dead heats

so Are you talking about famous races or just the closest ?

    Dead heats are the best
