look up companies like INCO or Falconbridge Nickel Mines to see what they have done on there so2 emissions.INCO is in Copper Cliff Ontario smelter process and Falconbridge or try XTRATA is in Falconbridge Ontario both companies are leaders in the field of emissions reductions.They were the leaders in highest so2 emissions before the laws were toughened

We've gotten SO2 emissions pretty well under control.  They've decreased since 1980 worldwide.  You can read a publication about historical SO2 emissions at the link below.  Useful graphs on pages 12-14.

SO2 emissions have already been cut pretty dramatically through federal requirements to use scrubbers and other control technologies. Further reductions would probably be very expensive.
