  1. YOu ca never write of such great players liek Ponting and Hayden, liek teh same way you cant write of Dravid and Tendulkar.

Granted, that Ponting has quite a dismal average in the subcotinent, and in fact hasnt played that many matches in the sub cotinent, the last match he played in against teh three quality sub coyinent sides of Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan was in 2004. He always seems to get injured when touring those countrys, quite a funny coincidence if you ask me. Even though he struggles against quality offspin, he is till one of teh top batsmen in the world, right up there with the lieks of Dravid, Kallis, Hayden, Sangarkara, ect... Tendulkar is in a different league all together. So Ponting has and can bounce back after a slump in form.

Hayden as a brilliant record in India and against india. The way he sweeps the spinners and never allows them to settle, makes him a huge asset, and he is certainly australias best player against india and therefore most important. he was in brilliant form last year

  2. Ricky Ponting hasn't really found great form as yet. He played ordinarily in the Indies - well below his standard.

Matthew Hayden currently isn't in great form but can still be a devastating player. He's not at his best currently but still quite dangerous if its his day!

  3. They don't have any form as they have both been injured. Ponting is not in the squad to play Bangladesh in Darwin; Hayden is in the squad, but may be replaced.

If they travel to India, they will not have had much cricket in the run up.

    Potentially worrying times for Australia.

  4. Still they are best and we cannot under estimate them.

  5. Ponting has began testing his injured wrist in the nets. He will travel to Darwin with the team for the Bangladesh matches, but won't be included in the team. There has been no further info released as to whether Hayden will play. That should come sometime this coming week, as the first match is just 6 days away.

  6. hayden and ponting always perform well against India.. so dont worry. if they are out of form they will be back ;)

  7. Don't worry they will get back to form with India. That's what Younis Khan used to say: "Everytime I play India, I get back into form."

  8. My computer gives the following form of Indians and Aussies, based on batting performances in test match series of 2008. Marks out of 100 and the number of matches are given.

    India: Sehwag (100/6); Gambhir (85/3); Laxman (49/6); Dravid (46/6); Ganguly (44/6); Irfan Pathan (41/1); Jaffer (35/3); Dhoni (33/3); Yuvraj (30/1); Tendulkar (20/4); Sreesanth (16/3); KKD Karthik (15/2); Zaheer Khan (12/3); Parthiv Patel (12/1); Ishant Sharma (11/4); Harbhajan Singh (11/6); Kumble (6/5); Chawla (4/1); RP Singh (3/2)

Australia: Katich (77/3); Ponting (75/3); Symonds (68/3); Hodge (66/1); Clarke (63/2); Jaques (57/3); Haddin (37/3); Hussey (32/3); Lee (29/3); Mitchell Johnson (15/3); Beau Casson (8/1); SR Clark (2/3); Hayden (Not played in any series of 2008 so far).

I checked up the batting form during the last one year and the following are the results:

    India: Sehwag (100/8); Gambhir (66/4); Laxman (61/13); Ganguly (59/13); Tendulkar (52/10); Pathan (47/4); Dravid (44/13); Jaffer (42/9); Yuvraj (37/4); Dhoni (34/9); KKD Karthik (21/5); Sreesanth (16/3); Kumble (15/12); Harbhajan (14/12); Parthiv Patel (12/1); Ishant Sharma (10/8); Zaheer Khan (9/6); RP Singh (7/6); Munaf Patel (0/2).

    Australia: Katich (78/3); MJ Clarke (72/8); Hayden (71/5); Hodge (67/1)Jaques (63/9); Symondfs (62/9); Hussey (61/9); Ponting (58/9); Haddin (37/3); Mitchell Johnson (19/9); Lee (17/9); CJL Rogers (13/1); Beau Casson (9/1); SR Clark (6/9).

  9. Ponting's form will not worry Australia, as Ponting rarely played big innings in India. But Hayden is a worry, as it is Hayden who torments Indian bowlers every time he tours India.

The last time Hayden played in Tests, it was against India, and in the last two innings he scored centuries. 123@Sydney & 103@ Adelaide.

And Ponting scored 140 the last time he played in India & his last test series was an average one against West Indies.

However Australia will be short of match practice and India would have played far too many matches. Both are catastrophic for teams, the latter being more dangerous.

  10. indians are kings in india.

  11. hayden is in good form but cant say this about ponting

  12. THEY  ARE  VERY  GOOD  BATSMAN...THEY  WILL  SCORE  VERY  MUCH  IN  THE  TOUR...
