  1. I dont think there is a danger

  2. If you use regular saline there is no issue... But, if you are using salt based drops, or artificial tears you want to be careful how much you use.... They can have bad side effects... EX: Blurry vision for extended periods of time..... Which is why you are using them in the first place... It is best to use saline...

  3. Visine is EVIL. It's full of preservatives that can actually further irritate your eyes!

If you need lubricant drops, go to the pharmacy or wherever you usually buy eye drops and purchase SINGLE USE preservative free vials of refresh or systane.

These help with dryness and irritation, but they don't make allergy eye go away. To help with that, you need an allergy drop.

Remember, ALL OTC allergy eye drops contain preservatives, so it is absolutely not safe to overuse them.

Visine allergy contains benzalkonium chloride, or BAC. This is bad, bad stuff, especially when overused- it's great for killing germs, it's also great for killing corneas. The dosing on this drop is quite frequent. Avoid it.

Zaditor, on the other hand, also has BAC, but only requires once-daily dosing. While not the perfect alternative, almost every walgreens or grocery store with a pharmacy will carry it, and since the dosing is less, the risk of irritation and/or damage is substantially less.

That said, even with zaditor, I strongly recommend using a vial of refresh or systane 15 minutes afterwards- your eyes will probably thank you for it.

  4. Its just a salt solution and I don't think it hurts anything.
