  1. --  yes, some do care about birds.

--  you're not gonna get cheap gasoline.  there is something like 6-9 month's supply for the US.  that's all.

--  do you think it's better to extract it today when gas is $4 a gallon, or maybe save it for 10 years when gas will be $20 a gallon.  i'm thinking it'll be worth far more later.  and maybe make a bigger difference in the price.  but of course, as a nation, we seem to be completely incapable of saving for tomorrow that which we can waste today.

  2. Wildlife would greatly affect and anwar only has about a year worth of oil and it won't be coming to  usa but instead, we would be selling it to china.

  3. There are several million other selfish, shortsighted, ignorant north Americans who won't let us get our own oil, but they complain about gas prices. They need to grow up!

There, I couldn't have said it better myself.

  4. Most of us would like to leave ANWR as pristine as it is now. But we may have to start drilling there at some point due to world events. The claim that we'd sell the oil to China is odd as it would be sold on the open market, presumably with the US legislating the right to first claim.

We don't need to drill there as long as they keep dredging and processing oil out of the Athabasca tar sands in Alberta, Canada. There is as much oil trapped there as the rest of the world's reserves combined, around 1.3 Trillion barrels of oil or about a 400-year supply. It's more expensive to extract than an oil well but at current prices it's very profitable and it's being sold today.

  5. It isn't about the wildlife or the environment.  The area involved is as large as Europe.  There would need to be a few single lane roads, some pipelines and a few hundred drilling rigs.  The wildlife simply won't be affected.

  6. There are a lot more species than just "some stupid birds" in ANWR.  However, the most important point is probably that at our current consumption rate, ANWR only contains about one year's worth of oil.  Drilling there would not make gas prices go down, but it would disturb a wildlife refuge.  There's just no point.

  7. hmmm. you and several million other selfish, shortsighted, ignorant north americans. grow up!

  8. Wow! The misinformation you get here is amazing!

ANWR will provide only one year of oil if we stop bringing in oil from ALL other places.  ANWR would be enough oil to keep the Northeast US warm and on the roads for over 64 years.

It's not birds, it's caribou, and modern drilling techniques do a great job at protecting the environment.  We should start drilling today.

The claim that we shouldn't drill because we use too much is not logical and indicates flawed thinking.

  9. The reason why we're not already drilling there is that there are many people who don't live in Alaska and that have never even been there who think they know better than the rest of us.  These are the same idiots who ***** and moan about our reliance on foreign oil, I know it's amazing isn't it.  It's estimated that there are BILLIONS of barrels of oil in this area and we have the technology to make sure there is minimal impact to the environment.  It's time for the whiners to simply shut up and let the right thing be done, namely drill for oil.
