Whats the deal with Taiwanese aboriginals having chinese names?

Is it due to the fact that they needed to change their names when the Chinese invaded for survival? The tribes(or aboriginals) in Taiwan aren't even related to the Chinese.

  1. Same problems with the original japanese the Ainu people.

    The occupier always set his own rules, and this is looking to be an important one in Asia at least.

    Most Asian languages are phonetics languages, especially the Mandarins an Cantonese, so to be understood, all names are translated using chinese sounds. When I was in China (4 years), they did translate my name in Chinese so they could pronouce it better, as pronounciation don't follow alphabets...
