  1. The perceived blandness of airline food can be attributed largely to a consequence of the limited space available on aircraft, and the pressure on airlines to keep costs low. Meals must generally be frozen and heated on the ground before takeoff, rather than prepared fresh. In order to keep the costs down but on the same time keep the quality up, some airlines have started serving cold meals. It has also been suggested that the taste buds are less sensitive at higher altitudes, making everything taste bland.

  2. Hot meals have many calories and preservatives.Yack..

  3. You're at 37,000 feet in a cramped cabin. What do you expect?

  4. what food?they give any food on any airlines,i thought all of them stopped serving.

  5. well, the last time i was on an airplane they fed me fava beans and a nice chianti.

  6. they are all pre-packed

  7. It's pretty tough to have food that's all of:

    * light-weight (to save fuel)

    * cheap to buy

    * quick and easy to serve (since there are so many people on the flight)

    * good-tasting

    Guess which one gets lowest priority?

    That being said, many people agree that the vegetarian meals are done better than the non-vegetarian ones.  If you can stand to be without your meat for a meal, give it a shot.  In fact, if you're on a flight that offers veg meal in addition to Asian veg meal and/or Hindu veg meal, get the Asian/Hindu one...it will be of even higher quality (but still not excellent).  Of course if you hate Asian or Indian food, then don't do that.

  8. i actually like airplane food... i don't know but i think it taste good. i heard about a resturant somewhere and they actaully had an airplane parked for ppl to order menus and eat inside LOL

  9. Most of it is edible, but some of it will give you gas...not a good thing on a flight with hundreds of other people in a confined space. One of the tastiest meals I've eaten was a vegetarian breakfast on a British Airways flight. The older British couple next to me grumbled and fussed and refused to eat it.  I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was.

  10. You will find that most if not all scheduled airlines will still give you food on the journey.

    If your on a charter airline then you have the option of paying for your food and it generally isn't of a great standard,

    I personally quite like the food depending on the airline of course, Virgin do some really good meals, well compared to many other airlines i have been on.

  11. It seems that they only feed you if you flying international.  Continental Airlines I think is the only exception.  I think if the flight exceeds 4 or 5 hours, they will serve a meal.

    If it is about taste, reheated food tastes like that.  If you are wondering why they got rid of it, that is due to cost cutting reasons.

  12. While you starving the portion is not enough. That is why I decided to stop by on the cafee or restaurant to have some food before boarding or transit.

  13. well, you are on a flying cafeteria.
