Whats the deal with the jamaican taping?

does anyone know what that tape the jamaican sprinters were wearing was for?down the lateral thigh to the shin in a Y shape and above the knee?

it's medical tape to help with muscle strain

its the same tape that the beach volleyball player Kerri Walsh wears on her serving shoulder. The tape does not hinder any movement. Most likely the sprinter either just had surgery or is doing everything she can so that she doesn't need to have it.

I think is for decoration or maybe to stop the cramp.  Not very sure and need to get some reporters to ask.

It is for medical purposes. Kerri Walsh in U.S. beach volleyball wore it on her shoulder because she had surgery, but she recently decided to go w/o it b/c she doesn't feel the pain anymore.
