Looks like a class 3 selector set up but the receiver milling wouldn't accommodate a GI auto sear other than a DIAS...Any ideas? I am just looking for good low priced receivers. I’m not building a class 3 weapon so don't lecture me about it please...just looking for good receivers for semi auto and came across this.

  1. As it was already mentioned, the markings are purely aesthetic.  A conventional auto sear requires a third pin hole to be drilled in the receiver.  Once the third hole is drilled, it is considered a machine gun forever.  There is no going back in the eyes of the ATF.

Also, in the eyes of the ATF, if you own a Pre 1981 DIAS and any other M16 parts or an AR15 rifle (lower receiver), you can be prosecuted for possessing an unregistered machine gun.   You need not have all of the parts necessary to make a fully automatic functioning firearm.

  2. it's just for looks. I've never used one of the Spike's receivers personally, but I've heard good things. Good luck!

  3. Well the first deal is that you can buy the receiver from Spike himself for $105

I had that same receiver it is what he uses to build semi

It is not supposed to be able to accept an auto sear, that would make it a classs3 weapon

It should also be noted that a DIAS is considered a machine gun and it is illegal to have one that is unregistered unless it is the pre 81

  4. It's aesthetic.
