Whats the deal with tivo?

We have been paying out cable company for digital recorder service and rental of the unit, so on and so forth....

my husband wants to give it up cause it costs too much- but I would really like to keep the ability to record things....

how does tivo work? what are the monthly fees?

or are there other digital recorders out there?

There are other Digital recorders out there at your shops like best buy and Circuit City, However by my experience it really does not work real well unless you want to record just the standard cable Channels or hook up a digital Box to the unit. buy you lose the ability to Record Two channels at one time.

The one good thing about some of the units are that you can record MANY more Hours of programming.

Your other alternative is to go to Satellite TV, but I do not know what that costs.
