For years I've brought bottle watered, thinking that it was safe, and ever time I wait for water bottle frozen to thaw I find little tiny flaky stuff on the bottom of them, thought nothing of it. Now I hear that a chemical in the water bottles can cause cancer.

Should I be worried?

  1. I don't know what that flaky stuff is. Could it be from your water out of the faucet.

I have heard that clear plastic is better than tinted.

Also, the problem isn't the chemicals in the plastic ( which by the way are made from oil ), it is that they don't dissolve in landfills and the more we drink out of bottles, the more bottles are filling up the landfills.

  2. Bottled water is handy on the go, but if your at home tap is proven to be healthier. The bacteria and minerals that get filtered out of bottled water are actually better for you.

  3. Its called BPA and it is found in poly carbonate plastics such as drinking bottles and baby bottles (recently banned in Canada) Google BPA and you'll find a whole mess of information on it.  or go to toxicplanet.net

  4. Bottled water is one of the biggest scams to come along.  If there it nothing wrong with the taste of your tap water then drink it!  it will save you hundreds of dollars.  The flaky things you see in the water after it thaws is the calcium in the water...thus proving that it really is "spring" or "distilled" like it may be advertised.
