  1. They are two different breeds of horse. Thoroughbreds are typically used for racing, standardbreds are typically used for harness racing.

  2. Standardbreds are more fun to watch.

  3. Standard bred horses have completely different gait

    one they trot or pace

they are made different and really do not run in a natural run

    Tbs are bred to run

they run on the flat with out a cart

They do Not look at all a like,,, we used to call standard breds JUG HEADS

because they have a head like a jug

Now Standard breds have a different Spine then other horses and they pace or trot in harness

    Big difference between the two

Standard breds come in too basic colors brown -bay dark-bay -brown =black

very few come in other colors Yes Chestnuts too,, But not often greys ,,,or chestnuts or sorrels are very few also

They are small 15 -15,3 =16 Very kind horses and very easy to teach

and most might have a bow from the track

    but that's  ok

    if healed right

most make great pleasure = trail horses'

    T.Bs ARE very different

  4. A Thoroughbred horse is basically a horse bred for speed. All thoroughbred horses trace their ancestry back to horses developed in England as far back as the sixteen hundreds.

They were bred from local breeds and Arabian horses.

Standard bred horses have evolved from Thoroughbred horses and are bred to be a bit shorter in the leg and longer in the body. The cross breeding was done to produce a horse for pacing and trotting.

I suppose it could be argued that both are thoroughbred for their different racing sport.

  5. all thoroughbreds and standardbreds are descendants of these 3 arabian stallions, godolphin, bryerley turk, and darley arabia.  the a thoroughbred was sold to america and served their mares, they began to trot, the rest is history

  6. DO YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE?
