  1. Atomic is a particular type of weapon that uses fission. Nuclear covers both atomic and hydrogen bombs. Hydrogen bombs use fusion to create the blast and are more powerful than atom-bombs.

  2. an atomic bomb is always a nuclear bomb. but a nuclear bomb isn't always an atomic bomb. the atomic bomb is the smallest version of a nuclear bomb. the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima was about 13 kilotons

  3. Nothing different name for the same thing.

  4. They same, but atomic is the early version of nuclear bomb.

  5. There is no difference between the Nuclear Bomb and Atomic Bomb. An atom bomb is also called a fission bomb which is one of the two types of nuclear bombs, and the other being a fusion bomb

  6. Atomic bombs operate on the nuclear level...therefore the words are synonomous.  The only difference between atomic (AKA: nuclear) bombs is whether they release energy via fission or fusion (splitting nuclei of Uranium or Plutonium or combining Hydrogen isotopes.  H-bombs are also called thermonuclear bombs because of the extremely high temperatures required to intitiate fusion

  7. In general, they're simply different names for the same device. Though you could make a case that one refers to a weapon that uses a nuclear isotope core and explosives to create a critical mass chain reaction. The "bucket full of sunshine" boom.  AND the other simply being a term for a "dirty" bomb. One which is a conventional explosion but has the explosive material packed with radioactive material. The explosion itself is NOT critical mass, but it DOES spread material to contaminate an area, and poison it's biosphere.
