  1. Primary dyslipidaemia is due to an inherited predisposition to high cholesterol/lipids. Examples are familial hypercholesterolaemia, familial combined hyperlipidaemia and other rarer conditions.

    Secondary dyslipidaemia is caused by another condition, such as diabetes, alcohol use, obesity, medication.
