Iv been driving for awhile now and I never really pay attention till today. Usually I just put regular gas in my car. I just wanted to know whats the difference between reg, super, and ultimate gas? Also I would like to know the benefits of each if there are any. One more thing what is this new thing I'm seeing at BP gas stations with this additive called reinvigorate or something along those lines?

  1. Higher octane gas is less likely to combust from heat and pressure. You want your gasoline to combust when the distributor/ecu fire the spark plug not before that and with engines that run higher compression or use forced aspiration (which raises cylinder pressure) you need to use higher octane to compensate.

  2. They have all the same amount of additives. the only benefit is if your car is turbocharged or supercharged or the car calls for it. the higher the octance rating the higher temperature it combusts, which is good for higher compression cars. theres no benefit for you otherwise and the company's just make money.

  3. well... the difference between the grades is the octane level,,the theory is the higher the octane,,the cleaner an,more pure fuel goes to your enginemore power....octane is the catylyst that gives the gas the punch!i have ran the three levels of gas an ,,i cant tell a difference, they say that the higher level dosent leave a deposit on your valves an piston rings but...i just bought a 08 jeep patriot an the owners manuel said that i should put gas with a octane level of 87,so....its done me fine an i have torn down engines that have run 87 an theyre finei mean that wosent the prtoblem...the problem was preventive  matienence
