Whats the difference bettween a Trifecta Key and Superfecta Key?

Ive always done a Trifecta Box with 4 Horses.How do I do a Superfecta Key with 1 horse and 3 others. What is a Superfecta Key?

A Trifecta is picking the first 3 horses to finish.  A superfecta refers to picking the first 4 horses to finish.  A superfecta key would be for example...1 over 2,3,4 where 1 would have to win and 2, 3 and 4 need to come in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place in any order.  A trifecta box with 4 horses is 24 bets....a superfecta key like this one is 6 bets. A trifecta key is 2 bets.

Trifecta is  picking the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place horse.

Superfecta is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place horses.

a sample key would look sort of like this: (assuming we key the same way) the 6 being the key

6/123/123/123= $6

123/6/123/123=$6

123/123/6/123=$6

you can also key for the 4th place

123/123/123/6= $6

Yur key horse must come in in at least as far as you've figured your key.  Are you want it to come in 1st or 2nd only..

or can it come in third?  Are are you willing to say it has to hit the top 4.

Okay Keys are more tricky then boxes so try to stay with me..

Lets do the Key vs the box first

A trifecta Key is more restricted then a box. Lets say you only had $6 left to bet with. You cant bet a  2 4 7 9 box becuase you you need $12...

but you are pretty sure the 9 horse was going to win the race.

Then you Key the 9 to win

So bet a 1$ Trifecta Key

9 with the 4 7 2

So yo need the 9 to Win the race and the 2 4 7  to run 2nd & 3rd....

If the race runs

9 4 7 win

9 7 2 win

9 4 (6) loose

9 4 (3) loose

9 (8) 2 loose    

If the race runs

7 4 9 ya still loose cause the 9 needed to win..

So....

(4) (2) 7 looses also



Now a superfecta is like a trifecta but you to pick the finish order for 1st 2nd 3rd & "4th"

so it less probable to hit and of course pays more when you do hit it...

So a superfecta Key with 1 horse and 3 others

Lets say a Superfecta Key the 9 with 2 4 7

If it is a $1 superfecta that is now 6 possible combos and will cost $6

So if they finish

9 7 4 2 ya win

9 2 4 7 Ya win

9 (6) 4 2 Ya loose

2 4 9 7 Ya Loose cause again the 9 needed to win...
