Whats the difference between, ash, cool, warm... in hair dyes?

If you want to achieve a natural medium brown colour like this

What tones should i look out for in hair dyes?! I dont want orangey,red,golden,copper tones lol just a normal medium brown hair. My hair is like a light golden brown just now. thanks

my hair tends to pull a lot of red when i color it...or used to. now my hair stylist uses ash tones because it counteracts the golden/red tones. i don't know exactly the difference between all 3, but if you naturally have those gold tones then go with an ash.
