  1. Well the Marines are the smallest branch.  In the Marine Corps everybody is trained to be a rifleman first and whatever their MOS is second.  The Marine Corps can attack from air sea or land whereas the army can only attack from the land any additional support comes from one of the other branches.

  2. That question could have very long answers, but I will try to do it in a short answer.

The Army is designed to win wars, the Marine Corps is designed to win battles quickly and then get out.  That may not be how it they are always used, but it is the general idea.  While the Marine Corps is not part of the Navy, it is part of the Department of the Navy, so you can also expect Marines to be involved in conflicts near the oceans and often on Navy ships.

The Marine Corps has air, ground, and support groups.  The Army has helicopters, but no figher jets like the Marine Corps. The rely on the Air Force for that function.  One advantage the Marine Corps has from this is they always train with these different components.

The President can at any time deploy Marines without approval from Congress.  This is intended to be a quick response force.

The Marine Corps is highly an infantry based.  All Marines must be proficient on the rifle, no matter what specialty you choose.

This is just a start, I am sure many others will attempt to answer your question too.  One good way also to get a feel is to talk to the different recuirters.  Most likely you will immediately get a different feeling when talking to a Marine recruiter than an Army recruiter.

In the end, we're all brothers doing the same job.

  3. rifle marksmanship

  4. The big difference? The Marines are going to be phased out. The Army will not.

  5. Here are some of the bigger differences between the two..

  6. army takes anyone  marines  you need to be  tough  thats  like  white castle  burgers  and  outback burgers

  7. Really ?

  8. Army is the larger branch that is true, and they also take almost anyone - whereas the Marines are very selective.

But they both have a different mission - the Marines normally land on beaches and take the beaches - then they send the Army in to hold the beaches. Marines spend

You will hear many people say many different things - just remember this - "The few, the proud the MARINES"

Marines spend many days at sea on Navy ships - amphibs.

  9. @ ga4....well everything you said is true with the exception of service age,the Corps was founded on 10 November 1775 and the Army was founded on 14 June 1775, ohhhh the Army is sooooo much older!yeah right.the Corps has been doing its job faithfully for d**n near 300 years.anyway the other answers are correct as well....discipline, marksmanship, physical strength and endurance, pride and dedication..theres lots of anti-war non hackers in the Army.

also the dude above me saying the Corps is being phased out?your a ******* fool dude you are completely clueless

  10. i was a USMC wife for 7 years and now an Army wife for 1...

    hands down...discipline.

the Army is lacking in discipline. for upper body work outs for pt, they play ultimate frisbee. i think that is enough said.

otherwise, in the Army you are able to speak you mind more. they are more lax on communication. while in the USMC you end up fearing higher ups.

the Army uses more common sense, but not much more. there is a lot more of hurry up and wait in the USMC too (but it is still pervalant in the Army).

  11. The Army is older and larger. The Marines are smaller, newer, but also more selective. Marines have won more major battles in the past so that's why they have so much pride. Marines are better in shape physically and emotionally, enough said.
