  1. Notarizing means that a notary public is swearing as to the identity of the person (they have seen documents supporting their identity) signing a document.  Attestation is witnessing (anyone) the signing of a document, but making sure that it is signed properly by the persons bound by the contract.


  2. A Notary must Notarize and stamp.    You have to be a qualified Notary to do this.

    Anybody can Attest

  3. To notarize a document, you have to be sworn in by the State and take an oath to be a Notary Public.  An attestation may be done by anyone that is a witness.
