  1. private = college with NO or little public funding

    state = run by state's (each state is different) public money

    public = state run

    community = 2 yrs (maybe 4, depends),AA, BA, BS and transfer to 4 yr (for remaining 2 yrs or 4 yrs for grad) state funded.

    it's all gonna cost you these days..it's usually easier to get loans and scholarships for state run schools. (always check a JC/Comm college to make sure they can transfer credits to a state/private 4 yr..they don't always.)

  2. Environment, Independence, Tuition, Academics... the list goes on

  3. Private institution has a board of trustees who are the presidents boss, these can be 4 year colleges or Universities and are usually accredited, a state college and public college are basically the same thing they are under supervision of the state department of education and are part of the bureaucracy, community colleges usually only offer associate (2 year) degrees and are under obligation to admit anyone with a highschool diploma, from that community.

  4. MONEY.

  5. Money

  6. One of the major differences between the four is the price. Privates are most expensive and the cost decreases in the order that you put it.  However, less jobs will consider you if you've graduated from a community college.  Most jobs won't mind hiring people that attend public colleges but they'll be impressed by those that graduated from state or private colleges. If you plan on attending college, apply to a public college if financial aid will cover everything.  Stick it out or apply to a state college after you've gotten some scholarships.  If financial aid doesn't cover most of it, go to a community college for MAX 1 year, and get the heck outta there to a public college
