  1. an out is a right angle to the left or right

a slant is a diagonal to the left or right

  2. Out: you will cut 90 degrees to one side at the yardage necessary

Slant: Same except you cut more around 45 degrees

  3. an out is to the right a slant is to the left

  4. a slant is an angled route, almost always to the inside of the field (for example if the receiver is lined up on the left, a slant will be to the right,). A slant will sometimes (rare, but possible) go towards the sideline, usually by a TE or slot receiver lined up near the middle of the field. This slant is sometimes considered an out. An out is usually a ninety degree route toward the sideline. (for example, a receiver on the left goes three yards, plants, and heads in a straight line directly for the sideline.)
