  1. Headers are one way to connect the exhaust system to the engine. The muffler is a can with baffles which reduce the engine noise. The exhaust is the system; headers, mufflers, pipes, etc. that handle the gases given off by the engine.


  2. an exhaust system is from the exhaust manifold on the engine to the tips on the back of the car, the headers go directly after the engine exhaust ports replacing the exhaust manifold then to the catalytic converters and then to the mufflers to quiet down the sound from the exhaust and give it that nice tone, headers, mufflers, cats, and mid-pipes are all part of the exhaust system

  3. mufflers quietens the car, headers replaces the exhaust, you take the exhaust off and put on headers.
