Whats the difference between a bear and a skunk smell?

my uncle and i were outside, and smelt something that smelt like a skunk, but it was really super strong, so we're like ohmg its a bear. we dontk now the diff...so what is it?

how far away can you smell a bear?

Bad & Worse. A Bear you can smell a hundred yards away. A skunk you can smell a half a mile away. It's possible to forget what a BEAR smells like... But you NEVER forget the smell of Skunk!!!  :)

lol i been hunting for a while. if anything, you cant smell a bear unless its in front of you and it farts.  bears are big, they dont need to smelll bad for a defense system, i mean they can bite someones head off. but the skunk on the other hand can be bullyed because their smaller. so they smell really bad so that things dont mess with them. i am pretty sure its a skunk. they smell bad, really really really bad. i ran into skunk tracks , it smells. bear tracks dont smell. i mean their p**p doesnt even smell when i stand over it. hope that helps.

The spray a skunk makes smells somewhat like a mix of burnt tires and rotten eggs.
