  1. Certification is what you get on your diploma when you graduate massage therapy school.

Licensing is what is required (possibly) by your state.

CEU is the continuing education that is required by your state (if it requires licensing) and possibly by your massage therapy association (ABMP and AMTA).

If you don't need CEU's or a certificate to prove you took the course, then just save yourself some $$$$$ and purchase a good DVD from @peacemedia.com

  2. You don't need to get a certification but if you really want to specialize in an area it could be beneficial.

You need to check with your state board of massage for exact requirements for CEU's.  Some have specific classes and the number of hours that are required.  There also may be different CEU requirements if you are an AMTA member or Nationally certified so you need to check and find out what those requirements are too.

  3. You can take a ceu class...stands for continuing education credit...because lmp's are required to get continuing ed to keep their licenses current.
