Here's the Difference:

Green Beret: US Army Special Forces Operator.  Primary missions include training of indigenous forces to fight low order conflict, low order conflict in areas considered to be too hostile, politically sensitive, or illegal for conventional forces, and finally strategic reconnaissance of areas to allow for the follow on of conventional forces.

Training includes: Language training based upon the SF Group's Area of Operations, Low intensity conflict, Airborne, High Altitude Airborne, Combat Diver Qualification Course, SFAS (Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course), SF Qualification Course, Survival Training to include POW situations, and numerous other schools based upon specific missions they are given.

Ranger: Highly trained US Army Soldier.  Still considered a member of the SOCOM (Special Operations Command), but is used more often in conventional roles.  Primary missions include, movement to contact, airfield capture, security support for operations performed by Special Forces A Teams and SFOD Teams (Delta).

Training Includes: Airborne School, Ranger School, Survival Training, Misc other training related to specific missions.
