Whats the difference between a hostel and a hotel?

I think hostel is more d.i.y where as hotel you pay for the service and to be looked after to a degree x

The cost of the stay and all of the amenities. Hotels cost much more to stay in but you get you very own bathroom. Hostels are usually for youths that don't have much money and don't mind ruffing it and sharing a bathroom with alot of other people you don't know.

a hostel is more of a dorm for travellers.  its cheap but you probably wont have alot of privacy.  youll have room mates share bathrooms and usually theres a common room and places where u can use computers.  a hotel is where u pay too much money for a roof bed and privacy
