  1. I presume your question arises because of the recent tragedy in Burma (now Myanmar).

A hurricane is a strong anticyclonic (counterclockwise) weather pattern occurring commonly in the western Atlantic characterised by strong winds and rain. A typhoon is the same type of weather pattern seen in the western Pacific commonly affecting east Asia.

Cyclone is the term for a southern hemisphere clockwise rotating weather pattern. I don't know why the Myanmar is being labelled a cyclone when it is in the Northern hemisphere and rotates counterclockwise like an anticyclone/hurricane system.

  2. each ocean has a diffrent name for that oceans storms for example the atlantic ocean has hurricanes the pacific ocean has typhones

  3. They are basically the same but are called different names in different parts of the world.

  4. hurricane and cyclone are the same (an area of low atmospheric pressure characterized by inward spiraling winds)

a typhoon starts on the water.

  5. Good question..but hard to answer..actually a Hurricane is a Tropical Cyclone..plz don't be mess up with a CYCLONE.Let me get this straight..Hurricane=Tropical Cyclone. Cyclone=Tornado...Typhoon=Tropical Cyclone..So..A hurricane is much more like a typhoon..except we asians called it typhoon:) hurricane is for Ang Mo(Eurasions and Americans)..Understand??

  6. This must be a science question your teachers are asking because the Hurricane season is close to being here.

Cyclones include hurricanes and typhoons but also large areas mid latitude low pressure areas.
