Whats the difference between a navel, orange, and a tangerine?

  1. I believe "navel" is a type of orange. My mom prefers the navel oranges because they are sweeter.

    a tangerine  is type of citrus fruit just like the orange, a different specie. These are usually not as sweet when not in season. and of course, they are smaller. the smallest would be the kumquat, about 1-2ins at the most. they are sour, and with preserved with salt, they will heal your sore throat. Make sure the preserved fruit is added into hot water with honey. will be ugggg... if taken alone.

A navel orange is a great eating orange, with  a thick skin that's fairly easy to peel.  Other oranges may have thinner skins, and are more suited to juices.  A tangerine is a hybrid of an orange, and isn't as ascerbic as an orange;  very easy to peel the skin and it separates into sections easily
