Ehh? Primer identify the genes of interest to be amplified in PCR right?

then probe also does identify the region where gene of interest is found on a DNA right?

So whats the difference?

and they are both single stranded DNA molecule right?

  1. The term 'primer' is specifically for single stranded DNA molecules used in amplification by any DNA amplification techniques. Probes are for purely identification.
