Whats the difference between a twister, tornado and hurricane?

  1. I'm PRETTY sure a twister is just slang for tornado.  A hurricane is found in coastal areas and is not like a funnel cloud tornado.  Tornadoes are more inland.

  3. A twister and a tornado are the exact same thing. A hurricane is a spinning low pressure system that forms over water of 80 degrees or warmer and does destruction on the coast, and is usually widespread. Tornadoes(twisters) usually do more damage but the damage covers a very small area.
