  3. Baseball is the original sport and the others are variations on it. You can see how baseball is played by watching any major league game.

Teeball is a version of the game usually only played by very young kids. The ball is placed on a tee on the home plate and the batter is allowed to swing away at will.

Softball is another variation in which a larger and somewhat softer ball that used in baseball is used. There are generally 3 different variations of softball:

16 inch softball: largest and softest ball, usually played without mitts, the pitch is slow and underhand, sometimes referred to as mushball

12 inch softball: slow underhaded pitch, played with mitts, often uses 4 outfielders instead 3

12 inch fast pitch softball: fast underhanded pitch (intended to strike out batter), played with mitts, 3 outfielders, this version is played at the college and olympic level for women

  4. baseball - a small hard ball is used.

softball - a large soft ball is used
