  1. Kayak=No open space on the boat. Meant only for one or two individuals. Paddler sits basically on the water with a bubble of air (kayak) keeping him/her up.

Canoe=A lot of open space. Paddler sits 6-18 inches above the water. Open space of air keeps the paddler up.

Kayaks are much easier to tip. Canoes...not so much. I suggest you get earplugs if you can't get water in your ears.

  2. If you cant get water in your ears, you need plugs-for both. In a kayak, you have to learn to "roll." This involves being under water. There are BIG differences between canoe and kayak!

  3. canoes and kayaks are two totally different boats. a canoe is longer and taller and can hold more people and use oars to row. a kayak can hold as small as one person is lower to the water and has different paddles than a canoe. a kayak can really get going in the water and is usually used for sport. a canoe is more used for "lazily" being out on the water for fishing or some other activity

  4. Big difference.

Im assuming that your going kayaking on flat water. Might want to wear ear plugs.

Once you get the hang of it, youll have a blast. It will feel more unstable than a canoe when you first get in.

  5. Canoe- River

    Kayak- Anywhere

  6. a canoe and a kayak are two different kinds of boats (both use paddles, both are relatively small).  a kayak is smaller and substantially easier to tip (get wet).  most canoes can hold 1-4 people, most kayaks can hold 1-2 people.  kayaks ride much lower to the water then canoes.  both are a lot of fun.  but if you're in choppy water and don't want to get wet, avoid the kayak

  7. Yes, they are easy to fall out of. That's what makes it fun, just wear some ear plugs. If you can get the type of kayak that you sit on get it. They are a lot faster and you wont drown if you turn over :-) Canoes are larger, slower, and harder to navigate but they are good for carrying supplies. If it's a choice between an old kayak that you sit in and a canoe go for the canoe.

  8. There is a big difference. Kayaking you can do anywhere, and canoeing you want to stick to rivers and lakes. For canoeing you need 2 people, one in front and one in back (the person in back steers) and you both have paddles. Kayaks are one person boats where you have one paddle with two flat ends. To see pictures of both, go to google, and click images.

  9. Just google both subjects. Wear earplugs. it's a lot of fun to go canoeing and kayaking.
