I want to buy video editing software from pinnacle but i can't decide between studio plus and studio ultimate. So any suggestions there would be nice.

But my real question is whats the difference between chroma key and green screen? i understand that its a way to add your own background to a video. Both Pinnacle packages have chroma key effects, but only the ultimate one has green screen. What's the difference?

And do I have to buy a special type of green screen for either of these?

  1. The correct term is chroma key, but it's often called green screen or blue screen because they're the most popular colours.  They're the same thing, though.  You don't need a special screen, but it should be as near to a pure green as you can get, and it must be evenly lit.

Personally, I wouldn't use any of the Pinnacle editors - they're too buggy and unstable.  Have a look at Sony's Vegas Movie Studio.  It's not as easy to get started, but give it an hour or so and you can produce great results.
