Whats the difference between cocky and confident?

confident is a subtle thing. no one says it, but its something you can sense

and cocky is a nice way of saying "hello world, i am better than anyone existing at this point in time"

A cocky person lacks experience and uses their cocky demeanor to hide their fears.

The difference between arrogance & confidence is that being cocky means that you think you have the skill to do as you please.  You have to also let everybody know that you can do it as well so they do not question it.  On the other hand, confidence is that you have the ability to do what you know you can do & you do not have to prove it to anyone, because you know that there is no point.  With arrogance, you are trying to do something.  With confidence, you are doing something.  "Do, or do not, there is no try." -Yoda

A confident person doesn't have to prove their confidence by acting arrogant. They know their confident and they believe in themselves. An cocky person is constantly trying to show that they are better at what they do. They may be all talk and they have a very high opinion of themselves. They act arrogant and they strive to outshine others.
